General Notes: Husband - Johan Ketner

The progenitor of the Ketner family in America, he arrived at the Port of Philadelphia on 12 October 1733, accompanied by his family. The captain of his ship was one of the few who recorded each member of the family. His list included:
Johan Katner Age 40
George Katner " 18
Feronica Katner " 34
Maria Katner " 11
Johan Henrich Katner " 9
Henrich Adam Katner " 8
At the Court House, Philadelphia, that same day, "Appeared Fifteen Palatines who with their Families, making all Sixty-two, were Imported here in the Ship Charming Betty, John Ball, Master, from London, were this Day qualified as Usual." Signing their names were: Johannes Kettner and Georg Michel Kettner

Records show the Ketner family to have settled in the Tulpehocken area of Berks County, Pennsylvania, by 1743 or earlier. A list of charter members of Christ Lutheran Church at Stouchsburg, organized in 1743, included John Ketner and George Michael Ketner. This church was formed largely by a group of 160 members who withdrew from Ried's Lutheran Church in the area, thus placing the Ketner's as being there before 1743.
