General Notes: Husband - Phillip Kimble Muse

He received his early education in the schools of his native town, and later attended Allegheny College at Meadville, Pennsylvania. He followed in his father's footsteps and entered the mercantile business, which he successfully pursued, first in Brownsville (later Sandy Lake borough), and later in New Lebanon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, which business he followed in the latter place until 1869, when, having purchased his deceased father's homestead farm, located just outside the limits of New Lebanon borough, he pursued the business of farming for a number of years thereafter. The greater portion of his mercantile career was spent in the borough of New Lebanon, where he later enjoyed a retired life. He was an attendant of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
In politics the Muses were always Whigs and Republicans.
