General Notes: Husband - Paul Suydam Bair


He was born at Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools; and then, preparing at Mercersburg Academy for college, he took an uncompleted course at Princeton University with the class of 1910. Mr. Bair then entered the employ of the Merchants Trust Company, at Greensburg, as a clerk, in 1910; serving in various capacities of trust, he became treasurer and vice-president. He was also president of the Jeannette Lumber & Mill Company.
A Democrat in his political convictions, he held the position of treasurer of the Borough of Greensburg beginning in 1918, succeeding Samuel E. Patterson. During the World War, he was tireless in his efforts to forward the many drives to successful issues, and was prominent in Liberty Loan and Red Cross work.
His fraternal affiliations were with Westmoreland Lodge, No. 518, Free and Accepted Masons, of which he was a Past Master; Urania Chapter, No, 192, Royal Arch Masons; Kedron Commandery, No. 18, Knights Templar, Greensburg; Pittsburgh Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the thirty-second degree; and the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine; and Lodge No. 511, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; and was a member of the Princeton Key and Seal Club, and the Greensburg Country Club. His religious fellowship was with the Second Reformed Church.
