General Notes: Husband - David Harry Shivery

The boyhood days of David H. Shivery passed quietly and uneventfully. He remained under the parental roof and assisted his father in the development of the home farm during the summer months, while in the winter season he attended the public schools, completing his education in an academy in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. The occupation to which he was reared, he made his life work, agriculture. His landed possessions aggregate 140 acres, the greater part of which was under a high state of cultivation. The latest improved machinery is used in planting and caring for his crops, substantial outbuildings shelter his grain and stock, and a comfortable residence formed the home of his family. He is progressive in his methods of farming, systematic in the management of his affairs, and energetic in the prosecution of his business. He was only once beyond the boundaries of Pennsylvania, in the summer of 1893 visiting the World's Columbian Exposition at Chicago.
