General Notes: Husband - George Washington Marshall

He was born at Brady's Bend, Armstrong county, Pennsylvania, and was seven years of age when his parents moved to the Butler, Venango County, farm, where he grew to manhood and was educated in the public school. He worked on the farm for some time, then became an oil producer, making and losing a fortune during the Elk City excitement. Later he was gauger in the employ of the Standard Oil Company and engaged in oil production on his own account. He followed the oil fields and resided in different places in Clarion County. He was a man of daring enterprise, very energetic and on the whole successful in business. He was a Democrat in politics, and a Lutheran in religion. He was a Mason, and was active with the Knights of the Maccabees, and as member of the Allegheny River Boatmen's Association. [GPHAV, 295]
