He received his education in the common schools and learned the carpenter’s trade, which he followed in connection with farming. He located on his farm in 1883. He was always been identified with the Republican party. He furnished a substitute for service in the Civil war. He was a member of Dempseytown Lodge, No. 632, I. O. O. F., twenty-one years.
