General Notes: Husband - John Neyman

He settled on what later became the Lewis Mellinger farm, about four miles northeast of Butler Borough, Butler County, PA, at a very early day—probably in 1797. About 1810, Mr. Neyman moved to Centre Township, and built upon Stony Run, where McGrath Mill would later be located, a fulling mill, the first in the county. Subsequently, he moved back to the place of his original settlement, and finally to a farm near by, later owned by the heirs of John H. Neyman. He was the father of a large family.

He came to this country from Germany when a boy, and establishing his home in Butler County he was both a farmer and distiller there and was also associated with its grist milling interests. He lived there for many years, and there his death finally occurred.

He came to Butler County, PA, with his family during the War of 1812, and settled on what later became known as the Millinger farm in Oakland township. He later moved to Centre township, built a grist and carding mill on Stoney run, and afterwards located on a farm later owned by his son John H., in Oakland township, where he continued to reside until his death. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church, of Butler, in which society he filled the office of elder. He was the contractor and builder of the old stone church at Butler. In 1824 he was elected, on the Whig ticket, prothonotary of Butler county. He was an energetic, successful business man.
