General Notes: Husband - Esbon H. Turner

He was thirteen years old when his father died, and when sixteen years old he went to Harrisville, Pennsylvania, to learn the tailor trade with a Mr. Robert Long. It did not take him long to find out that "the business of sitting on the smooth side of poverty, jerking out the cords of affliction," was too confining for one of his active temperament. He returned home and remained contented until he was of age. April 24, 1855 he went to Iowa, settling in Jackson County, and became a farmer.
