Children:
1. David Alexander Lyle, b. Jan, 21, 1845, in Fairfield County, Ohio.
He was appointed to the U. S. Military Academy at West Point in Oct., 1865, and graduated in June, 1869. As an officer in the Army of the United States, Mr. Lyle had an extensive experience of over 42 years. In 1877 he designed the Lyle Life Saving Gun, which was adopted by the U.S. Life Saving Service and used by that service for many years. In 1883-84, he was a student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating therefrom in 1884. He rose to the rank of Colonel in the Ordnance Dept. of the Army in 1907, and retired with that rank in 1909. He married first, Lottie Kirkland Cobb on Sept. 7, 1875. To this union two children were born: David Alexander Lyle, Jr., died in infancy, and Anna Lyle, born March 3, 1879. Mrs. Lyle died March 1, 1884, and Mr. Lyle was married second to Alice Veronica Darr, April 2, 1894. Col. Lyle lived during his retirement years at St. Davids, Pennsylvania, and his death occurred there on October 10, 1937, in the 93rd year of his age.
2. Aaron Thomas Lyle, b. Aug. 16, 1847, in Fairfield County, Ohio. He never married. He died at Pleasantville, Ohio, on March 6, 1929. Buried at Methodist Protestant Cemetery, New Salem, Ohio.
