Linda Lusher Weds
Gregory Spence
Linda Ann Lusher became the bride of Gregory Richard (Joey) Spence at the Galloway United Methodist Church at 11:30 o'clock on March 31.
Parents of the bride are Paul Edward and Judy Lusher of 619 McCalmont St. The bridegroom is the son of Bea Spence of 63 Rich St., Oil City, and the late Richard B. Spence.
The Rev. Jaime Potter Miller of Galloway United Methodist Church and the Rev. Charles Skinner of St. Stephen's Church, Oil City, officiated at the ceremony. The soloist, Keith Siverling, was accompanied by Gladys DeWoody on the organ.
The bride was radiant in a white gown of pearled satin fashioned with venise lace trimming the bodice which featured a high stand-up collar on the floor-length gown of sheer chiffonette. Schiffli embroidery formed the cuffs on the bishop sleeves and bordered the hemline of the A-line, knife-pleated skirt which swept into a chapel-length train. Her fingertip veil of schiffli lace was enhanced with pearls.
Maid of honor was Becky Solle, cousin of the bride. Attendants were Brenda Lusher of Franklin, and DeeDee Lusher of Jacksonville, Fla., both sisters of the bride. Kendra Pereira of Westfield, N.Y., niece of the bridegroom, was junior bridesmaid.
They wore lavender floor-length gowns of chiffon styled with pouf sleeves and flounced hems which were gathered and trimmed with satin ribbons.
Floral arrangements consisted of white and yellow carnations, lavender and yellow rosebuds, and gypsophila. The attendants' flowers were arranged on white open fans, while the bride's flowers were on a satin-covered Bible, which her mother had carried in her own wedding.
Bill Beichner accompanied Mr. Spence as best man. Ushers were John Villar and Jim Jones, both of Oil City. Joshua Pereira, nephew of the bridegroom, Westfield, N.Y., was junior usher.
A reception for 450 guests was held at the Rocky Grove Fire Hall following the ceremony. The bride's color theme high-lighted the floral centerpieces, streamers and "hot air" balloons. The Southern Knights provided the entertainment at the reception.
Among the guests were those attending from New York, Maryland, Florida, Illinois, Washington D.C., Ohio and Wisconsin.
The gridegroom's mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Franklin Club.
The bride, a 1977 graduate of Rocky Grove High School, and a 1981 graduate of Clarion University, is employed at First Seneca Bank in Oil City. Her husband, a 1973 graduate of Venango Christian High School, is mployed at PennDOT in Franklin.
Following a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, Thousand Islands, and Lake Placid, the couple is residing at 209 E. Sixth St., Oil City.
