General Notes: Husband - Rev. John Lusher, D.D.


He served in the Civil War: enrolled at Kittanning, Armstrong Co, PA, on August 19, 1861, in Company E, 78th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He served as a private and was later promoted to corporal on April 27, 1863. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1864 at Kittanning.

Rev. John Lusher, D. D., a minister in the Erie conference of the Methodist church since 1873, died at his home in Parker yesterday and funeral services in his memory will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be made in the Parker cemetery.
The deceased was licensed to preach in 1871 and in his prime was one of the most effective pastors of the conference. He served charges at Tionesta, Clintonville, Millerstown, Brookville, Titusville and Parker before retiring from active service in 1926.

FUNERAL OF REV. LUSHER TO BE HELD ON FRIDAY
The funeral of Rev. John Lusher, D.D., will be held in Parker at 2 p. m. on Friday. Dr. Lusher was licensed to preach in 1871 and entered the Erie Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1873. He retired in 1926. He held appointments in Tionesta, Farmington, Clintonville, Millerstown, Parker, Brookville, Titusville, Appleton, Wis., New Castle, Chautanqua, Mt.
Jewett and Parker.
He was considered one of the most gifted pulpit orators in the Erie Conerence.
Burial will be at Rockland.

Funeral services for Rev. John Lusher, D. D., Civil war veteran and at one time one of the most gifted speakers in the Erie conference of the Methodist Episcopal church, will be conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist Episcopal church at Parker's Landing. Burial will be in the Rockland cemetery with Masonic officials in charge of the commitment services.
Rev. Lusher died at his home in Parker's Landing Tuesday morning. He would have been 94 years old on December 21. He was one of the three surviving members of the Jesse Pryor post, G. A. R. and a member of the Masons.
The only survivor is a sister, Mrs. Nancy Gilger of Rockland. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Pryor Lusher, died several years ago.
Rev. Lusher was licensed to preach in 1871 and joined the Methodist Episcopal conference in 1873. He retired in 1926 after serving pastorates in Tionesta, Farmington, Clintonville, Millerstown, Parker's Landing, Brookville, Titusville, Appleton, Wis., New Castle, Chautauqua and Mt. Jewett.

Dr. John Lusher
Methodists here will be grieved to learn of the death of Dr. John Lusher, Wednesday at his home in Parkers Landing.
Dr. Lusher was a pastor of the First Methodist church of this city during 1895 and 1896 and was one of the best known and oldest ministers of the Erie conference. He had spent 40 years in the active ministry, retiring about twenty years ago.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. from the home in Parkers' Landing.

MRS. SARAH E. LUSHER
PARKERS LANDING, April 28.- Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah E. Lusher, aged 74, wife of the Rev. Dr. John Lusher, a retired minister of the Methodist Episcopal church, who died in her home here last Wednesday, were conducted Friday night. Mrs. Lusher was born in Rockland township, Venango county, and was the eldest daughter of the late Jesse and Henrietta Pryor. She married Dr. Lusher September 7, 1865. She was a member of the Methodist church over a half century.
Besides her husband Mrs. Lusher leaves the following brothers and sisters, John F. and U. S. Pryor, of Rockland; Samuel W. Pryor, of Tionesta; Mrs. J. H. Porter and Miss Etta Pryor, of Parkers Landing, and Mrs. Martin, of Michigan.

Mrs. John Lusher
Dr. John A. McCamey, superintendent of the New Castle district of the M. E. church, received a telegram yesterday telling of the death of Mrs. Lusher, wife of Rev. John Lusher of Parkers Landing, which occurred yesterday at her home.
Rev. Lusher formerly was pastor of the First Methodist church of this city, and the family has many friends here.
