DEATH OF MRS. W. D. M'GINNIS
This Estimable Lady Passed Away at Her Home on Hill Street on Tuesday, Aged 64 Years-Funeral Thursday Morning
Catherine Deliah Lusher McGinnis, wife of William D. McGinnis, died at her home on Hill street, Tuesday morning, December 21st, 1909, aged 64 years, 9 months and 4 days.
Mrs. McGinnis was the eldest daughter of Abram and Mary DeGraso Lusher. She was married to William D. McGinnis March 19th, 1874.
To them were born four children: Mary Lusher (Mrs. R. J. Crawford) residing in Pittsburg; Nellie Blanche (Mrs. W. P. Laughner) of Pavillion, N. Y.; William Burt, deceased Aug. 24th, 1909; and Jeannette DeGraw, (Mrs. G. P. Wingard) of Emlenton, Pa.
Her husband, W. D. McGinnis, three grandchildren, Rose and R. J. Crawford, Jr., and John Burt Laughner; two brothers, Rev. John Lusher, D. D. of Parker's Landing; D. R. Lusher, of New Port, Washington; one sister, Mrs. W. B. Gilger, of Rockland, and one half brother, W. S. Troutner, of Michigan, survive to mourn the loss of this lovely and excellent woman.
She had been in ill health for several years but bore up with such wonderful cheerfulness and fortitude that even those nearest to her did not realize until a few days previous to her death her critical condition. The sudden death of her only and beloved son last summer was a severe blow but even then she was a cheering and consoling spirit to her family. Her husband and children devoted themselves to her and hoped by care and attention to prolong her life for months and even years, but it was not to be.
Gentle and domestic in her tastes her home was the most loved spot on earth to her. Here she was contented and here she showed a "spirit never warped or bent, but buoyant ever, happy bright, we saw her with a quiet grace make sunshine in this favored place." She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church.
The funeral services were conducted at her late home on Hill street, Thursday morning at 10:30 by her pastor, Rev. C. H. Frampton, and her brother, Rev. John Lusher. The interment was in the Emlenton cemetery.
Her friends extend heartfelt sympathy to her husband and mourning family.
