He had ten children with his first wife, eight of whom grew up. His second wife was also the mother of ten children. Mr. Loutzenhiser cast his first vote for Monroe, then voted for Jackson, and after that time was a Whig and Republican, casting his vote for Blaine in 1884. He served as county commissioner one term, and deputy sheriff two terms, once under his cousin, Jacob Loutzenhiser.
