General Notes: Husband - Daniel Shrader

He passed his childhood and early youth in his native place. He gained his education at the local public schools, and afterward followed farming as his vocation. In the year 1885 he secured the old Simon Long farm which had belonged for many years to his wife's father and which had formerly been in the possession of the Kunkle family, one of whom built the beautiful old residence in 1841. In 1874 a barn was built by Mr. Long. Mr. Shrader became the owner of two hundred of as fertile acres as are to be found anywhere in the county. The property was mainly valley land and lay in such a way that all parts of it had extra drainage, while it was watered by living springs. It was situated five miles southwest of Greensburg. His house stood on a commanding elevation, overlooking the surrounding countryside. For more than twenty years he maintained a dairy on his farm and sold his milk wholesale in the region. He also kept a fine herd of stock.
