General Notes: Husband - John Long

He was known as "John Long of Conowingo Mills" to distinguish him from his cousin "John Long of Fishing Creek", who was the son of his uncle James Long.

He inherited or purchased from his father a portion of the old homestead and later purchased of his father, and later acquired other land on the Conowingo Creek in Drumore township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he owned and operated a mill. Hence his sobriquet. He was prominent in public affairs, and for many years an Elder of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church; an original Abolitionist, and held a number of public trusts.
