Gregory E. Long
Gregory E. Long, 50, of Knox, died at 12:34 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, in St Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh, following a battle with cancer.
Born May 4, 1950, in Grove City, he was a son of the late Robert E. Long and Shirley Lee Long of Knox.
Mr. Long was distirct justice for District 18-3-03 in Clarion County for the past 11 years, hav­ing been certified to serve as dis­trict justice at Wilson College in Chambersburg.
Prior to being elected district magistrate, Mr. Long was a police officer with the Clarion Borough Police Department for 18 years, attaining the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Long was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregation­al Church in Nineveh where he belonged to the Men of Grace and the Friends in Christ Sunday School Class.
He also was a member of F. & A.M. Lodge No. 550 in Knox and the New Castle Consistory. He also belonged to the Knox Lions Club where he was a past King. Lion.
Mr. Long also held member­ship in the National Rifle Associ­ation and the District 5 Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania.
He enjoyed hunting, bicycling, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with his children.
Mr. Long was married April 29, 1979, to Amy L. McHenry, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth L. Long, and a son, Bri­an G. Long, both at home; his mother, Shirley L. Long of Knox; a brother and his wife, Jeffery R. and Mary Long of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister and her husband, Marsha and Willard Wimer of Clearfield; and many aunts, uncles; cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Long was preceded in death by his father Jan. 19, 2000. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home in Knox.
Mr. Long will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Thursday in the church with the Rev. Rick Osberg, pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Knox Union Cemetery, Knox.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Knox Volunteer Fire Department, Knox, 16232, or to the American Red Cross.

Amy Lynn McHenry Marries Gregory Long
Amy Lynn McHenry and Gregory Emerson Long exchanged wedding vows in the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Knox RD 1.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald E. McHenry of Knox RD 1. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Long of Knox.
Rev. Maurice E. Friedlund officiated at the double-ring ceremony at 3 pm April 29.
The bride chose a Qiana knit gown trimmed with lace and flowered ap­pliques. The dress was styled with Queen Anne neckline and long sleeves.
Her veil of illusion was bordered with lace and secured with a camelot cap.
The maid of honor was Ruth Ann Fye of Franklin. The bride was also attended by Marsha Long of Knox, the bridegroom's sister; Mary Caye Mecki of Marble; and Betsy Stewart of Rimersburg.
Jeffrey Long of Knox accompanied his brother as best man. Ushers were Barry
McHenry of Knox, the bride's brother, Larry Carr of Cook Forest; and John Brindger of Indiana, Pa.
The ringbearer was George Long of Knox, nephew of the bridegroom. The flower girl was Jody Lee Jeannerat of Shippenville, cousin of the bride.
A reception was held in the Salem Community Building.
The newlyweds are both graduates of Keystone High School.
Mrs. Long was graduated from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute, Buffalo, N. Y. She is employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Jay C. Henry of Emlenton.
Her husband is employed by the Clarion Borough Police Department.
Following a wedding trip to Virginia Beach, the couple will reside at Main and Third streets, Emlenton.
