General Notes: Husband - Acheson McMurray

His ancestors were Scotch-Irish, and in 1790 a branch of the family was planted in eastern Pennsylvania. In 1800 it was transplanted to Westmoreland County, one brother remaining there and another [another source: two others] going to Ohio.
He was a farmer and land owner near Harrison City, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
On August 12, 1821, he was commissioned first lieutenant of the Fifth Cavalry, and on May 5, 1823, was made captain of the Sixteenth Regiment, First Brigade, composed of the militia of Fayette and Westmoreland counties.
He was an elder in the Presbyterian church of Harrison City.
