General Notes: Husband - Israel Shoup Neely

He was but one year of age at the time of his parents' removal to Venango, now Clarion County, PA, and in the public schools of Beaver township he received his educational discipline, which was of a meager order. After his marriage he started housekeeping on the Anderson farm, but later he moved to the state of Iowa. After a time he returned to Pennsylvania and rented the Anderson farm, Licking township, Clarion County. At the time of his father's death, in 1855, he and his brother Cyrus bought the old homestead, which comprised two hundred acres. One-half of this farm he shared with his brother Cyrus. He was a Democrat in his political allegiance and in religious matters was a member of the Reformed church. He was engaged in the farming and stock-raising business during his entire active career. He served three years as school director and always took an active interest in the schools of his township and county. [GPHAV, 652]
