General Notes: Husband - John Lewis

The immigrant ancestor of this family, he settled in Westerly, Rhode Island, where on March 22, 1661, he signed some articles in relation to Misquamicut lands. On May 18, 1669, John Lewis was made freeman at Westerly, and his name was on the list of inhabitants of that date, on September 17, 1679, he took the oath of allegiance.

No relationship has been found between him and Robert Lewis, of Newport, who made his will April 12, 1682, having two instead of three witnesses; nothing more is known of this Robert except this fact.
