General Notes: Husband - Henry Lewis

Edinboro, Erie Co, PA

Civil War: he enlisted July, 1862, in Co. B, 145th Penn. Regt., and participated in the battles of Fredericks-burg, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, where he lost his left arm. He was honorably discharged Dec. 22, 1863.

He started in life as a carpenter and joiner, and continued in that business until appointed postmaster of Edinboro by President Lincoln on January 5, 1865, which office he held until March, 1886. He also served one term as borough councilman, and was for eighteen years a trustee in the Edinboro State Normal school. Mr. Lewis was a member of Proudfit Post, No. 416, G. A. R., and also of the U. V. L. at Erie. He held all of the offices in his post and was its first commander. Mr. Lewis was also a member of the A. O. U. W.
