Moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1828. December 14, 1848, he was appointed by Governor Wm. F. Johnston, "Bark Inspector" for the city and county of Philadelphia, and held this office until February 12, 1852. Elected one of the Commissioners of the old Spring Garden District previous to the "consolidation" in 1854. An elder in the Presbyterian church.
