General Notes: Husband - George Arthur Shields


He was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, where he was educated in the public and high schools of the city. At the outbreak of the Spanish-American War he enlisted in the 16th Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia, serving throughout the war.
He began his business career as a grocer at Corry, Pennsylvania, after which he entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was eventually promoted to transportation clerk and given a position at Oil City, which he held for a number of years.
He was a member of the Royal Arcanum.
The family were members of the St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church.
