General Notes: Husband - Robert Lane

The immigrant ancestor of the Lane family, he was probably born in Derbyshire, England, about the year 1639. He came to America and settled in Connecticut, where in 1660, a home lot was laid out to him. He is mentioned at Stratford as cowkeeper, fenceviewer and burier, and in 1686, deputy to court of election at Hartford. In 1695 he removed to Killingworth, Connecticut, where he was active in affairs of church and town until his death there. He served in the colonial assembly from 1699 to 1715 and was a man of character and capacity. [GPHAV, 437]

The earliest paternal ancestor of record emigrated from Derbyshire, England, with three sons. He died on the passage to America. His son
John settled at Killingworth, Connecticut; Jonathan at Rehoboth, Massachusetts; and Robert at Rye, New York. John Lane married a Picket, and from them the line is traced through John, who married a Kelsey; John, who married an Egleston. [HJC 1917 II, 26]
