General Notes: Husband - Abram Thompson Wolff

His education was received in the public schools of his native region and he grew up on his father's farm, becoming thoroughly accustomed to all the duties and tasks of farm life and gaining a magnificent heritage of health which never left him. He purchased his own farm in the year 1880, a tract consisting of one hundred and twenty-two acres and there he operated for many years what was one of the model farms of the region. Mr. Wolff always worked to conserve the fertility of his soil and enhance its productiveness by the judicious use of lime and fertilizer and a scientific rotation of crop, by which means he succeeded in producing an ever increasing yield. He and his seven sons handled all the work themselves, and accomplished remarkable results.
His home was finely situated, the residence site being especially desirable, and the house commanded a charming and far-reaching view, his barn which he built in 1892 was of the largest and most modern plan and construction, while the beautiful old house which stood on the property for many years was thoroughly overhauled and rebuilt.
In addition to his farming interests, Mr. Wolff invested to a considerable extent in West Virginia coal lands, in the belief that the future would justify his judgment.
In his religious belief he was a Presbyterian and from his earliest youth attended the church of that denomination at Congruity. He was for many years a trustee thereof.
He was devotedly fond of out-door sports of all kinds and found his chief recreation in motor trips to various parts of the country, visiting points as far away as Philadelphia and Atlantic City in his car. He was a patron of football, baseball and boxing. He was a great admirer and a keen judge of a good horse and he kept on his farm only the highest grade of stock.
