General Notes: Husband - George Kunkel


He learned printing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; in 1844 he appeared on the stage as a vocalist, and was considered one of the ablest delineators of negro minstrelsy; in the character of "Uncle Tom," he became widely celebrated both in America and England, while his rendition of "The Old Sexton," was unsurpassed; in person he was nearly six feet tall, with a fine expressive face.
