General Notes: Husband - Larmer Mitchell


He received his education in Trenton, Pennsylvania, and at ten years of age began working for a farmer; at sixteen years of age he went on board a packet on the Pennsylvania canal, and worked for thirteen years.
He enlisted, Aug. 18, 1864, in Co. I, 5th Heavy Artillery, and was mustered out in June, 1865.
Mr. Mitchell worked for two years as constable at the sodaworks in Harrison township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. After being in the oil-fields three years he moved to Verona in 1880, and was watchman, constable and policeman thereafter.
