JAMES G. HECKATHORN
James G. Heckathorn, 94, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday afternoon in the Franklin Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Scrubgrass Township, on the family homestead on Aug. 13, 1880. He was a son of Reuben and Anna Stewart Heckathorn. He was first married to the former Nora Atwell, who is deceased. He then married the former Effie McMichael, who survives.
An oilfield worker most of his life, Mr. Heckathorn had also engaged in farming in Scrubgrass Township for many years. He was a member of the Independent Bible Church of Annisville.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Mrs. Duff (Mabel) Neely of Lake City, PA, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son, Glenn Heckathorn, died in 1970.
Services will be held at 11 AM Friday in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Eau Claire with Rev. Clyde Worley, pastor of the Independent Bible Church, officiating. Internment will be in East Unity Cemetery.

MRS. NORA ATWELL HECKATHORN
Mrs. Nora Atwell Heckathorne, 55, wife of James Heckathorne, of River Ridge, died at the Franklin Hospital on Thursday evening at 6:10 o'clock, following an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Heckathorne had been in the hospital since Monday.
She was born at Lisbon, Venango County, Oct. 17, 1883. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Neely, of North Girard, and a son, Robert
Glenn Heckathorne, of Kittanning. She also leaves the following brothers and
sisters: Mrs. Minnie Lockard, Mrs. Earl Lytle, R. V. Atwell, Franklin; Rev. George
Atwell, Washington, Pa., and J. E. Atwell, Grove City.
Funeral services will be held at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Clintonville, on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for members of the family.
Friends may call until noon. Rev. William C. Latta, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church Oil City, will be in charge and interment will follow in the East Unity Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. James G. Heckathorn, aged 55, took place at 2:30 o'clock on Saturday at Clintonville, with Rev. William Latta, of Oil City, in charge, assisted by Rev. Murdock French of the Community Ross Church, Pittsburgh. Interment took place in the East Unity Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Rev. Boyce Atwell of Beaver Falls; Rev. Robert Atwell, Harrisville; Paul Burke, Emlenton; Floyd Heckathorn, Oil City; Wayne Heckathorn, Seneca; and Ray Heckathorn, Rocky Grove, all of them nephews.
Mrs. Heckathorn, in failing health for a year, had been seriously ill for two weeks. Her death occurred in Franklin Hospital last Thursday. She was an active member of the Oil City U. P. Church and a teacher of the Women's Bible Class. She was a life-long resident of Venango county.
Nora Mae Atwell was the daughter of Robert and Phoebe Scott Atwell, and was born in Scrubgrass Township Oct. 17, 1883. On July 16, 1901, she married James G. Heckathorn, who survives together with two children: Glen of Kittanning, and Mrs. Mabel Neely, of Girard. She also leaves two sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Minnie Lochard, Milwaukee; Mrs. Martha Lytle, Franklin, and Rev. Dr. George P. Atwell of Washington, Pa.; J. E. Atwell, Oil City; and R. V. Atwell, Franklin.
