General Notes: Husband - Jacob Noss

He lived in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, but decided to move to the west with his family, making Illinois his objective point. They set out on this journey, using an ox team as a means of transport, but being snowbound near Four Mile Square, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, they were persuaded by the settlers there to spend the remainder of the winter at that location. The neighbors were helpful in re-roofing an empty cabin, in which Mr. Noss and his family spent the winter. By the time spring arrived the family found their new surroundings so congenial that they determined to make their permanent home there. They became the owners of two hundred acres of land, a part of which was utilized for farming purposes.
