General Notes: Husband - Paul Sebastian Kistler

His boyhood days were spent in attending the common schools and working on his father's farm, and after his marriage he farmed for Richard McCall, remaining with him for three years. He then located on the farm owned by John George, and this he operated successfully for sixteen years. He then took up his residence on the old homestead farm of his maternal grandfather, Michael Fink, (which became his mother's at the death of her parents) purchasing all the acres, for which he paid a goodly sum to the heirs. He manufactured brick and erected a house on the same, also a large barn in 1889, and made many other needed improvements. He disposed of a large amount of his coal lands known as the Pittsburg vein at an advantageous price, and still had sufficient coal lands in his possession to make his property most valuable. In 1884 he tore down his barn which he replaced with one much larger, and in 1893 erected a fine residence, which was equipped with everything needful for the comfort of the family.
Mr. Kistler always took a deep interest in religious and philanthropic work, was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, in which he has served for twenty-four years as trustee, treasurer and steward. Like his father, he cast his vote for the candidates of the Democratic party. [HWC 1906 III, 426]
