She attended the Warren, Pennsylvania, Public Schools and later graduated from the Painsville, Ohio, Seminary. She taught school a number of years in Warren County, Pennsylvania. She was a member and a faithful and energetic worker in the Episcopal church, and a charter member of the General Joseph Warren chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
