General Notes: Husband - Wayne Clay Prather

He went to work in the oil fields soon as he was old enough. He worked in Texas and Wyoming and came home and moved a rig to Michigan to drill for oil. He got drafted into the Army during World War II and went to Europe, being stationed in England where he met and married his wife. About 1948 he was invited to come to the home farm by John S. Prather and drill wells. He bought the Lucina Ellen Smith farm in Cherrytree Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, and did truck farming plus working with oil wells; all his children grew up on this farm. He moved to Braidwood, Illinois, and worked in a gunpowder factory at one time. He bought a water well machine and tried to drill for oil but the tools got stuck.

General Notes: Wife - Esme Noel King

After the death of her husband, she resided in the Chicago, Illinois, area.
