LAWRENCE STROUP, Rockland Township.
Lawrence Stroup was born Oct 1853, at Tionesta, Forest county, where he resided until his parents, Stephen and Eliza Stroup, moved to Venango county, which was in 1864. At an early age Mr. Stroup engaged in the oil business, which he followed until two years ago, when he settled down to farm life, at which he has been quite successful.
On Dec. 5, 1878, Mr. Stroup was wedded to Miss Clara Askey, daughter of Harrison and Mary Jane Askey, of Rockland township. Seven children were born to them, four of whom are living, as follows: Mrs. Belle Ward, Sistersville, W. Va.; Earl, Hoboken, Pa.; Jessie, Sistersville, W. Va., and Clara, at home.
