General Notes: Husband - Dr. H. B. Summerville

After completing the curriculum of the public schools of Porter township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, Dr. Summerville pursued a course of study in the Clarion Collegiate Institute. Subsequently he was matriculated as a student in the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Baltimore, Maryland, from which excellent institution he was graduated as a member of the class of 1890, duly receiving the degree of Doctor of Medicine. He initiated the active practice of his profession at Fryburg, where he was a partner of Dr. Hess for one year, at the expiration of which he went to West Freedom, where he spent another year. In 1892 he came to Rimersburg, where he then lived. He controled a large and lucrative practice, and in connection with his medical work was a valued member of a number of representative professional organizations. He and his brothers erected the Summerville Block at Rimersburg in 1909, which was of pressed brick and one of the finest office buildings in the city. In his political convictions Dr. Summerville was a stalwart supporter of the Republican party. Beginning in 1910 he was the postmaster of Rimersburg.
