Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA

He was born and reared in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he followed farming and operated a distillery. He was a democrat and a member of the Reformed church.
His first wife was a native of Westmoreland County, by whom he had seven children. His second wife bore him three sons and three daughters. But no source makes it clear which of the children listed were born to which of his wives.

He was one of the best known farmers and agriculturalists in the surrounding country and owned a farm on the site that became Hufftown, in Greensburg.

He was one of the first of the family to change the spelling of the name from the original "Raymer" to its more usual English form, "Reamer".
His birth occurred in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Leaving his birthplace at an early age, he came to Westmoreland County, where he spent his entire life cultivating his highly productive farm.
