General Notes: Husband - James Kelly

He, together with Fergus Moorhead, the founder of the Moorhead family, and one or two others, took up land near the present site of Indiana town and commenced improvements there about the same time James, Sr., settled on the Conemaugh. Driven by the Indians from his home, he also went east of the mountains and fought for his country, and returned again to his lands after the war of the Revolution.

The Kelly tract was situated between what became the Apollo and Saltsburg roads.

He was State senator from Indiana County in 1834-38 and associate judge in 1842. He married Sarah Ems. [HAC 1914, 395] But this was his son.
