General Notes: Husband - Robert Parks Arnold

He was reared at Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where he received his education in the common schools and academy of that place. In 1858 he removed from Kittanning to a farm Lower Burrell Township, Westmoreland County, on which he then resided.
In 1862 he enlisted in the fifteenth PA Cavalry, participated in all the battles in which his regiment was engaged and was honorably discharged from the United States service in Nashville, Tennessee, in June, 1865. He then came back to Lower Burrell township where he engaged in farming thereafter. His farm of eighty-five acres was well watered and nice lying-land for agricultural purposes, and on it there were good buildings.
After the war he was engaged for some time in coal and mercantile business. He was the first person who ever brought oil down the Allegheny river to Pittsburgh. He sold his first lot to the Penna. Salt Manufacturing company at thirteen dollars per barrel.
He was an enthusiastic democrat, served as county commissioner from 1876 to 1879 and was school director of his township for over ten years.
