General Notes: Husband - Herbert Adams Johns


He was educated in the public schools of Pittsburgh, being graduated from the high school, and in 1882 he accepted the position of messenger in the Tradesmen's Bank, in Pittsburgh, and at the end of ten years had risen to the position of teller. In 1892 he came to Carnegie, Pennsylvania, and in association with William Pickett, organized the First National Bank of Carnegie, which was at first known as the First National Bank of Chartiers, and has filled the position of cashier. He was one of the organizers of the Carnegie Trust Company, of which he became secretary; director of the Green & Evans Lumber Company, which had one plant at West Liberty and another at Turtle Creek. He was a Republican in political opinion, and was serving as treasurer of the public schools. He was elder and treasurer of the Presbyterian Church for over ten years, and he and his wife were members of it for many years.
