General Notes: Husband - Samuel John, Jr.


He was a Free Quaker who served in the Continental Army in Captain Gould's Company of York County Militia in 1776.

In 1772 he married Hannah, daughter of William Penrose, the overseer of Warrington Meeting in York County, and his own house at Fairview became the privileged center of the Society from 1780 to 1784.
