"He disappeared about 1900 and his whereabouts was unknown for many years. In the 1920s he contacted his son in Franklin, Pennsylvania, indicating a desire to return home. The family provided money for transportation and maintained him until his death. He never saw his wife again although there was some written contact." [DFGS]

General Notes: Wife - Adaline Jackson

---

Shortly after her husband disappeared, she and most of the children moved to Canada to homestead like her brother. Her life there was very harsh; one home burned down; she developed cancer of the knee and her leg was amputated, she used a crude wooden leg thereafter. In the 1920s she returned to Pennsylvania; she and her youngest son settled in Pittsburgh where she ran a boarding house for university students. She then went to Colorado to visit some of her children there. She settled and died in Colorado. She never saw her husband again after his disappearance.
