General Notes: Husband - Charles Rufus McCarthy

Huntingdon, Huntingdon Co, PA

He was the senior member of the well-known firm of C. R. & W. B. McCarthy, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. This firm began business in 1889, and built up an excellent trade, and developed what many pronounced the finest furniture and carpet store in central Pennsylvania.

He received his education in the common schools, and was for a large part of his life engaged in agricultural pursuits. In 1888, he turned his attention to mercantile business, and became a partner with his brother in the firm of McCarthy Brothers, furniture dealers.
He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church. Mr. McCarthy was an active member of Washington Camp, No. 321, P. O. S. of A. His political views were those of the Republican party.
