General Notes: Husband - Charles E. Martin

His education, first in the public schools of his native town, proceeded to Duff's Business College, after which he finished at Geneva College. He then spent a year and a half in the insurance business, associated with Pangburn & Martin, after which he went to Pittsburgh with the Underwriters' Association as an inspector of the Allegheny County District. He was next with Hoover & Hurst of Pittsburgh in the accident and health department. In August, 1916, he became assistant to the manager of the Pennsylvania Manufacturers' Association, in their Pittsburgh office. This association, which was established in 1907 by a group of business men, was the pioneer organization of its kind in the State. In 1921 Mr. Martin returned to Beaver Falls and assumed the additional duties of manager and secretary of the Manufacturers' Association of Beaver County. From a small beginning the association grew to ninety members, and had jurisdiction over the counties of Beaver, Butler, Mercer and Lawrence. Under the management of Mr. Martin it grew to be a power in those counties. He was secretary and treasurer also of the Riverview Improvement Company, a land-holding corporation, and was a director in The Farmers National Bank. Mr. Martin was a Republican in politics. He was a member of the Beaver Falls Council, a thirty-second degree Mason, belonging to Beaver Falls Lodge, No. 478, and Valley of New Castle Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; the Beaver Falls Chamber of Commerce; the Beaver Valley Country Club; the Tamaqua Club; the Pittsburgh Athletic Association; and the Manufacturers' Club of Philadelphia. In religion he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
