General Notes: Husband - William Huston

Tyrone Twp, Fayette Co, PA

He was born east of the mountains. He was but a boy of eighteen when his father crossed the range to make his home upon the western side. April 14, 1791, he warranted twenty-seven acres of land adjoining that of his father, the survey being made April 30th of the same year.

He came to the west before he was sixteen years old, and with his rifle by his side for protection against the Indians, cultivated the hills around what was later known as "Cochran's graveyard." His father, Capt. Joseph Huston, gave the land for it just before starting with Col. Crawford on his disastrous expedition against the Indians. Capt. Huston soon returned to die, and was the first to claim a resting-place within its sacred ground. [HFC 1882, 797]
