General Notes: Husband - Philip Shepler

He was educated in the common schools and always followed farming and stock-raising on his farm of two hundred and fifteen acres, which was formerly owned by his father. Mr. Shepler was an earnest, active democrat and a devout member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Belle Vernon.

With his first wife he had eight children, six of whom were living in 1890.
