He lived for many years on the north side of the Conedoguinet creek, in Silver Spring and Hampden townships, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. In 1853 he removed to the vicinity of New Cumberland.

He and his wife were the parents of five children, four of whom grew to maturity.
