General Notes: Husband - Charles Clinton Rodgers

He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and there attended public school until twelve years of age. He sold newspapers when a young boy, and seemed to have imbibed a love for printer's ink, for from his twelfth year, when he became devil in the printing office of W. B. Thomas & Company, in New Castle, he was connected with the printing business. He remained in that employ until 1887, becoming an expert typesetter and thoroughly familiar with printing as a business. In 1887 he went to Irwin, in Westmoreland County, securing a position with the "Standard." He continued an employee until 1894, when he purchased an interest in the "Standard," which he retained until 1897. He then sold his interest, the two Irwin papers, the "Republican" and "Standard," consolidating as the "Republican-Standard," Mr. Rodgers being in charge of the consolidation and managing the paper until 1910, when he resigned and established the Rodgers Printing Company, of Irwin. He was one of the active members of the Irwin Board of Trade.
An active Republican, Mr. Rodgers served Irwin two terms as burgess, and also a deputy coroner. In religious preference he was a Methodist, was a member of the Sons of Veterans, United Order of American Mechanics, Knights of Malta, and the Royal Arcanum. He was fond of out-of-door athletic sports, and in 1894, 1895 and 1896 was manager of the Irwin baseball team.

He obtained his education in the common schools of his native place, and at the age of thirteen commenced to make his own way in the world, obtaining a situation in the New Castle News. He remained in the printing office of that concern for eight years, and established himself in the printing business in 1887, and became engaged in the conduct of a large, well-appointed printing office in Irwin.
In his political affiliations he was a Republican, and was deeply interested in all party affairs. He was a member of the Royal Arcanum, Irwin Council, No. 794, of which he was past regent; the J. O. U. A. M., Council No. 44, of Irwin; Daughters of Liberty, Irwin Council, No. 75; John F. Wolf Commandery, Knights of Malta, of Irwin. Mr. Rodgers served multiple terms as burgess of the town of Irwin, and has served one year as borough clerk. He was a member of the Methodist church of Irwin.
