General Notes: Husband - Jacob Parr

He came with his father from Prussia to the United States in 1867. He received his education chiefly in the schools of Prussia, and after arriving at Covode, Pennsylvania, he continued to work with his father at the wagonmaking business for three years. In 1870 he engaged in carpentering which trade he followed for seven years, and worked during most of this time at Irwin, Westmoreland County. One of these years (1873) he spent in New York and Brooklyn, where he worked on several important buildings in those cities. In 1877 he founded at Irwin a wagonmaking and blacksmithing establishment. Four years later he engaged in the sale of agricultural implements, establishing a large and well-stocked salesroom and developing an extensive trade. He also dealt in carriages and buggies.
He was a member of the Catholic church and a democrat in politics. He took an active part in local political matters and served three years as borough committeeman of his party.
