General Notes: Husband - Francis A. Howe

Civil War: he enlisted July 29, 1861, in the 83d P. V. I., serving in the 12th Corps, and was wounded in the battle of Gaines' Mill by a ball passing through his arm. It lodged in a testament he carried directly over his heart. He had the book and ball still in his possession years later. He was in the army eighteen months, and was discharged for physical disability in December, 1862. Mrs. Howe was a member of the Episcopal Church. Mr. Howe worked at carriage-making for many years; he owned a nice little home in Waterford. He was a pensioner, a member of the A. O. U. W., and G. A. R.; in politics, a Republican.
