General Notes: Husband - Samuel Briggs Monjar


He was born on the old home place in Irwin Township, Venango County, PA, was reared there, and when he engaged in farming on his own account secured the old homestead of his wife's father, John C. Hovis, in that township, about a mile from the old Monjar homestead. He was doing well when the Civil war broke out and he enlisted, in 1861, dying while in the service one year later, at Washington, of injuries received when he was thrown from a horse. [CAB, 976]
