General Notes: Husband - Ernest Theodore Hovis

He was a stone­mason, and worked at his trade when he first came to Venango County, Pennsylvania. About 1818 he purchased a farm of one hundred and six acres on the line of Butler County which later became the property of William Cross. About 1838 he bought a farm of two hundred and fifty acres in Irwin township, Venango County, where his son John lived. He served at Erie in the war of 1812.

Several sources list him as the son of the original Johan Theodore Hofius. However a study of the dates associated with this person make this compiler believe that this person was probably a grandson.
