General Notes: Husband - William T. Hosmer

He was descended from Thomas Hosmer, a native of England, who immigrated to America in 1635. He was a pioneer in Massachusetts and figured largely among the early settlers of New England.

In the year 1800, at the age of twenty-one, he traversed on foot the country lying between the Genesee and Niagara Rivers in pursuit of fur, and in 1806 engaged in carrying the mail from Canandaigua to Buffalo and Lewiston on Niagara River. After the prime of his life was spent in such pursuits as keeping public house, farming, mercantile business, running stages, and carrying mail, he settled in the township of Vernon, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in the spring of 1837, and there he remained till he died.
